Joseph Lo's Studio
PoetryPoetry

To me, poetry represents the originality of thoughts, concepts, ideas, and philosophies of one's perception of the environment. It also embraces the emotions of the writer. Through the usage, the rhythms, and the tone of the language, the meanings of the writings are always flowing both metaphysically and literally. It all depends on viewer perceptions.

Poems have a multivalency to fit in different people's mind. So interpretations or translations always lessen such quality.

Among various types of Chinese poetry, I like to create poems in the Tang or pre-Tang dynasty styles, especially the short ones with 4 sentences and 5 words each sentence. Besides, I do like the Song Lyrics style and the Contemporary Styles.

Recently, I have tried to transpose my feelings into English and have written some prose in English.

Here are some samples of my work, grouped into three categories:

Music | Photography | Curriculum Vitae | Portfolio
